Garen Staglin
Founder and Co-Chairman of One Mind

Garen Staglin is a Founder and Co-Chairman of One Mind for Research (www.onemind.org). Launched in 1994 with his wife, Shari and former Congressman Patrick Kennedy, One Mind is an independent, non-partisan, 501c(3) non-profit organization dedicated to curing the diseases of the brain and eliminating the stigma and discrimination associated with mental illness and brain injuries. One Mind sponsors groundbreaking new research and creates portals to shared scientific data, leading to improved diagnostics, more effective treatment, and, ultimately, cures for all types of mental illness and brain injury. Their organization’s vision is “healthy brains for all.”

The last thirty years, One Mind, and the Staglin’s Music Festival for Mental Health (www.music-festival.org) event have raised more than $575 million for mental health charities and research. They were recently honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award from SAMSHA, the Llura and Gordon Gund Award from Research America as the nation’s leading advocate for brain health research, and the 2018 Edward A. Dickson Alumni of the Year Award from the UCLA Alumni Association for their endless support of brain health research and advocacy.

Garen is a private equity investor and philanthropist with more than 40 years of experience in building and starting companies in the financial services and payment industries. He is a Senior Advisor to FTV Capital and a Limited Partner at Mosaik Capital.

Garen is a graduate of UCLA, BS-Engineering (1966), and the Stanford Graduate School of Business, MBA (1968). He is a recipient of the Gold Spike Award, Stanford University’s highest award for volunteer service and the UCLA College of Letters & Science Fellows Award. He was Co-Chairman of the $5.48 Billion UCLA Centennial Campaign. He and Shari, and their children, Brandon and Shannon, are founders of the STAGLIN FAMILY VINEYARD, a 64-acre estate in Rutherford, California.

Actively involved for almost 39 years in the wine industry, the Staglins’ motto is “Great Wine for Great Causes” and through their operation of their winery, business interests, and support of various charitable causes, they have indeed lived up to that philosophy. Over the course of their lifetime, causes they have chaired or donations from their wines have generated more than $1.2 Billion.
