Mr. Gies is responsible for Bessemer’s business development operations in the Northeast United States including the Boston, New York, and Washington, D.C. offices. Prior to joining Bessemer, Mr. Gies was Head of Neuberger Berman Wealth Management. Before moving to New York, Mr. Gies was the Director of Neuberger Berman’s Southeast region.

In 1997 Mr. Gies joined Bernstein Global Wealth Management serving in their San Francisco, Seattle, Washington, D.C., and Tampa offices until 2005.

Prior to joining the financial services industry, Mr. Gies spent over nine years in the United States Navy as a Naval Flight Officer, during which time he flew F-14 Tomcats. He made two deployments to the Persian Gulf, and between 1994 and 1997, he taught Naval History at Jacksonville University’s Naval ROTC Unit.

Mr. Gies graduated (with honors) from the University of Florida with a degree in Industrial Systems Engineering and holds an M.B.A. from Jacksonville University. He is the Chairman of the Board of Directors for Volunteers of America – Greater New York, as well as a member of the Board of Directors for the Resurrection School Foundation.
